HikeCast privacy policy

Effective October 26, 2026. Covers HikeCast for iPhone.

HikeCast rates the hiking weather on US mountains. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We run no servers for it and receive nothing about you. This page says what stays on your iPhone, what the app sends to the public services it gets its data from, and how to remove it all.

What stays on your iPhone

Deleting the app deletes all of it. Nothing is backed up to us.

Your location

HikeCast asks for your location only when you tap Peaks near me or the locate button on the map, and only while you use the app. It is used on your iPhone to find nearby peaks in the built-in list and to show where you are on the map. It is never sent to us or to the weather services, and the app never tracks you in the background.

What the app sends, and to whom

To show a forecast, HikeCast asks these public services for data. Like any website, each one sees your device's IP address when it answers.

None of these requests carry your name, an account, an advertising identifier or your location.

Sharing

When you share a forecast, HikeCast makes the card on your iPhone and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there is up to you.

Children

HikeCast collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If the app ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so first, with a new effective date.
